Ontario Fury Statement about COVID-19

(ONTARIO - CALIFORNIA) March 12, 2020 - Due to the recent developments with the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic, the Major Arena Soccer League (MASL) has ended the MASL season effective immediately.  The Ontario Fury will continue to monitor developments to determine next steps for moving forward. 

In addition, the State of California has determined that all mass gatherings should be postponed or cancelled for the immediate future. The Ontario Fury support these directives and remain committed to the safety and well-being of our fans, partners, players and staff during this unprecedented time that is impacting our entire community. 

As this situation continues to evolve, we remain committed to delivering timely details as new information is available and encourage everyone to follow the health and safety guidelines as outlined by the CDC and WHO.

At this time, there is no information on our upcoming playoff schedule. Tickets that were purchased for our March 13th (Star Wars Night) Game will be honored for our first playoff game. More details will be announced as we get them.

MAJOR ARENA SOCCER LEAGUE TO END REGULAR SEASON EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY

The Major Arena Soccer League (MASL) has decided to end the 2019-2020 regular season effective immediately. The league’s Board of Directors voted unanimously this afternoon to act in the best interests of the players, staff and fans of the league.

The decision to end the regular season follows the direction seen in other professional sports across North America, such as the NHL, NBA, AHL, and others along with directives and restrictions from local governments in MASL communities.

“It’s a disappointing end to an exciting regular season, but the health and safety of our players, fans and staff is paramount,” said MASL Commissioner Joshua Schaub. “It was a significant sacrifice for our owners to forego the remaining regular season games, but it was the appropriate decision considering the gravity of the situation.”

The MASL will continue to monitor developments and provide updates on the league and the status of league events at a later date.
